“I was stoked with the number of people I attracted especially with the quality of person being very high. They were very appreciative of the opportunity to come to the Cruise Fair and genuinely interested in cruising as a holiday option. It was pleasing to see a range of ages, so many people think it is just for retirees but there really are cruises for every age.”

Young’s entrepreneurial flair was well supported by the cruise suppliers attending.

“I had 16 cruise companies support me and they all thought it was well worthwhile especially given it was its first year. It really is a win-win for all parties involved.”

Young says his colleagues across Australia are involved in initiatives similar to his Cruise Fair.

“I joined TravelManagers in July 2011 and of the things that attracted me to them is that they are hugely encouraging and supportive of personal travel managers using their initiative to grow their business like this. My business partnership manager assisted me a great deal in the lead up to the event and even came along on the day.”

Young says he has a large number of names to add to his cruise database as a result of the event.

“It was a great way to establish myself and make people aware I am here to help and that I’m an expert in cruising.”

Young is an ICCA accredited cruise specialist which he says helps immensely with selling cruising.

“I worked for Best Cruises prior to joining TravelManagers but having my ICCA qualification provides you with an in-depth knowledge of cruising. It’s a big confidence builder and has been a critical part in me selling so many cruise holidays.”

Young is a fan of cruising as he feels nothing is as relaxing.

“It really is a stress free experience. You unpack once and wake up with a new destination to discover at your back door! I thoroughly enjoy big super liners. It’s fantastic exploring all the magnificent facilities and trying all the specialty restaurants on board.”

And will Young be running another Cruise Fair next year?

“It was so successful I might even run another one before next year!”
