Since P&O Cruises partnered with Save the Children earlier this month, passengers, crew and staff have been busy casting off as part of a new onboard knitting program.
Under the new P&O Pacific Partnership with Save the Children, P&O Cruises’ passengers can give back to the destinations they visit by knitting squares that will become blankets for newborn babies in the Pacific Islands.
While Simon Cheng, Marketing Director at Carnival Australia, which operates P&O Cruises, (pictured) wasn’t “Born to Knit”, as the knitting kits’ name suggests, he has joined P&O Cruises’ crew and passengers in learning for a good cause.
P&O Cruises’ passengers will also donate $1 via their onboard accounts with the aim of raising $1 million over four years for Save the Children community health and education projects in the Pacific.
The cruise line launched the new partnership with a $50,000 donation which will go towards a new kindergarten in the Sanma province of Vanuatu.
