The global tourism industry might be struggling in the wake of the Global Financial Crisis but many Queensland businesses are successfully weathering the storm and were rewarded for their outstanding achievements at the recent RACQ Travel Awards night. “The RACQ Travel Awards night was a great success – it just gets bigger and better every year,” said RACQ General Manager Lifestyle and Leisure, Mark Mugnaioni. “Despite the difficulties the tourism industry is experiencing globally, the calibre of the businesses, operators, suppliers and consultants judged on our awards night has remained strong. “The RACQ Travel Awards night is always a great opportunity for the Club’s travel team, and the operators and suppliers with whom we work closely to get together to share experiences and celebrate our achievements.” Mr Mugnaioni said the strong Australian dollar was making travelling overseas more affordable for Australians. “At RACQ Travel we continue to be very busy, particularly in respect to our very strong cruising and touring sales, and to enjoy the ongoing support of our members,” he said. “It’s onwards and upwards for RACQ Travel, and we’re looking forward to another great year in 2012.” RACQ Executive Manager Travel, Trevor Worth, presented a number of awards to the outstanding performers during the evening.
