More than 100 Sabre Pacific staff members across Australia and New Zealand shared and displayed their secret talents to raise almost $10,000 for various charitable organisations.
Sabre Pacific CEO, Gai Tyrrell, says Sabre’s global Give Together event offers staff the opportunity to take some time out from their busy schedules and drum up donations for nominated charities.
“During the week, Sabre employees around the world are encouraged to raise funds, promote awareness or lend a helping hand to those in need. This not only builds stronger relations between Sabre employees, but reinforces Sabre’s continuing commitment to supporting local communities,” says Tyrrell.
“It’s incredible to learn the hidden talents among our staff! This year, our employees conducted ‘master classes’ to teach their colleagues a variety of skills for a small donation. These included belly dancing, cooking, knitting and guitar lessons. Other employee initiatives included running an auction, baking and selling cakes, collecting leftover foreign currency and participating in the annual ‘Walk to Work’ day.
“These efforts collectively raised a grand total of $5413.22, (inclusive of a dollar for dollar match by Sabre Pacific) which is to be equally divided between two employee elected charities; the Cancer Council and the Starlight Foundation,” says Tyrrell.
Across the pond, Sabre New Zealand got into the Rugby World Cup fever, raising a total of NZD$3683.00 for the Fred Hollows Foundation from the auctioning of a signed All Blacks rugby jersey and a special Give Together raffle.
