STA Travel and VisitBritain Discuss On-Going Partnership
May 30, 2013
STA Travel’s Australian head office has welcomed a delegation from the British Government including the Rt Hon Hugh Robertson MP – Minister for Sport and Tourism, UK and the Chairman of VisitBritain, Mr Christopher Rodrigues CBE, to discuss the on-going partnership to promote Britain as a travel destination across Australia.
As part of the on-going partnership STA Travel is responsible for helping market British destinations to Australian outbound tourists and facilitating travel plans for a wide range of age and different demographic groups.
Australians are a key tourist segment for Britain. The typical Australian on holiday in Britain generates roughly AUS$1,300 (£900) for the British economy, a figure which more than doubles for business visitors, which makes Australians the fourth most important market when it comes to spending – contributing around AUS $1.5 billion (£1 billion) to the British economy in 2011.
‘STA Travel is proud to be a strategic partner for VisitBritian in Australia. Our talks with the Rt Hon Hugh Robertson MP – Minister for Sport and Tourism, UK and the Chairman of VisitBritain, Mr Christopher Rodrigues CBE, were extremely positive and our discussions focused on how Britain will be a growth outbound tourism market in 2013 / 2014 for Australian travellers,’ said David Green, Managing Director STA Travel Australia.
