TravelManagers had seven of its personal travel managers involved in another exclusive famil courtesy of Territory Discoveries, that concentrated on Darwin and the top end of the Northern Territory. Scott Hallo, Business Partnership Manager for Victoria South and Tasmania accompanied the group along with Marlene Nolan, Business Development Manager from Queensland for Territory Discoveries. Hallo says the emphasis and importance TravelManagers places on destination and product training is something to be proud of.
“There’s a perception that once you become a home-based or mobile consultant that you lose the opportunity to go on educationals or there aren’t as many of them but that’s simply not the case at TravelManagers. They commit a huge amount of resource in to ensuring there are regular familisation opportunities not only to popular destinations but up and coming ones too.” Hallo says many of these are exclusive and outside what is offered generally to the industry. “This trip is a perfect example, it is the fifth dedicated educational for 2012 for TravelManagers and the fifteenth since they commenced dedicated educationals in October 2009. Our supplier relations are second-to-none, and these famils simply wouldn’t be possible without the strong partnerships we enjoy with our partner suppliers.” The criteria to participate on this educational tour were to have either sold Territory Discovery product or to have attended their educational webinars. Hallo says there is continual ongoing training to refresh their personal travel managers’ destination and product knowledge. “With the type of clientele TravelManagers attracts we need to be as up to date as possible with recent developments and any enhancements. We like to be proactive with our clients, matching destinations or tours with their interests. Nothing beats experiencing a destination or a tour so the famils provide the perfect opportunity to practically reinforce what has been learnt in the webinars.” Personal travel managers on the trip were: Preller says one of the highlights of the six day itinerary was the three day trek through Kakadu, Katherine and Litchfield which Brett Binns, AAT Kings Manager Top End, joined them for. “It was a fantastic time, I love history and was fascinated visiting the Adelaide River War Cemetery, where many World War II soldiers and civilians are buried having been killed in the 1942 air raids on Darwin. Plus the World War II Tour in Darwin which was humbling and a must-do. ” Damiano says the Northern Territory held many expectations for her, which were far exceeded. “The Katherine Gorge was a highlight for me, and in particular the Dinner Cruise. The sheer majesty of the gorges coupled with the tranquillity and exquisite food, is something that will remain with me forever. I will definitely talk to my clients about this; it is an area that must be experienced.” |
