Last night the Travel Industry Mentor Experience officially launched at a function in Sydney, with attendees introduced to the first five mentees and mentors involved in the program.
The brainchild of Sydney agent Penny Spencer of Spencer Travel, TIME aims to offer a framework for industry personnel to advance their skills and careers through one-on-one coaching from experienced people who’ve been in the industry for some time.
TIME has been structured as a not-for-profit company, with an advisory board including Penny Spencer; Judith O’Neill from Aspirations Consulting; Creative Holidays chief Justin Montgomery; Rick Myatt from AFTA Education and Training; Oliver Tams of Jetset Travelworld’s Business Select; former AFTA ceo Mike Hatton; and Glenn Cusack, Sabre Pacific Manager Corporate for Australia and NZ.

The Travel Industry Mentor Experience (TIME) this week launched its second program in a function at the Blue Hotel in Sydney.
The event featured a number of presentations from senior industry people about their careers and thoughts on mentoring, including former AFTA ceo Mike Hatton and Peter McCormack from Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, which is one of the sponsors of the program.
Pictured above at the event are Penny Spencer from Spencer Travel; Craig Smith from Corporate Travel Management; and Megan Hill, who’s one of the mentees on the first TIME program and who also spoke passionately about how helpful she has found the experience so far.

The Travel Industry Mentor Experience (TIME) last week held another networking evening, with guests inspired by industry legend Phil Hoffman relating stories of success in business and his journey so far.
TIME chairman, Penny Spencer from Spencer Travel said there was a great turnout at the event, with a number of Mentees signing up on the spot to be part of the next intake.
The first group of Mentees will graduate from the program early next year, with “an amazing Graduation evening on 09 Feb,” Spencer said.
She said the Feb intake has 12 new Mentees and “some fabulous Mentors” taking part in the scheme.
