Tourism NT Launches National Hump Day
Tourism NT has declared Wednesday 6 July (the middle Wednesday of the year) as National Hump Day.
National Hump Day was officially launched at Circular Quay yesterday with Camels representing one of the Territory’s most exciting annual events, the Lasseters Camel Cup, making their way to Circular Quay to provide commuters with an insight into the event.
The activity is part of Tourism NT’s wider Festival Territory campaign, which promotes the NT’s vibrant festivals and unique cultural events.
To celebrate Hump Day, every Wednesday in July people across Australia will be given the opportunity to create a Super Camel Racer card by logging onto Facebook and sending it to their friends to wish them a Happy Hump Day via Facebook, Twitter and email. Everyone who participates will have the chance to win one of four Festival Territory adventures.
Tourism NT’s Chief Executive Officer, John Fitzgerald, said: “The concept for National Hump Day draws on the common reference to Wednesdays as Hump Day, signifying that the first half of the week is over and it is time to start thinking about the weekend and how to fill those much anticipated days off.
“The NT is well-known for its camels and the Lasseters Camel Cup, it seemed an obvious connection to encourage individuals to consider the NT for their next holiday on Hump Day.
“We will also be promoting other NT Festivals through the Super Camel Racer Facebook application.”
Information on the Super Camel Racer, Festival Territory events and NT travel deals will be available at www.humpdaynt.com every Wednesday in July. |
