One of the world’s most celebrated game reserves recently welcomed a select group of Travellers Choice agents taking part in an exclusive educational hosted by The Africa Safari Company.
Shamwari Game Reserve has won numerous awards for its conservation efforts, which include being home to a sanctuary for lions and leopards rescued from circuses or zoos. The property – one hour’s drive from Port Elizabeth in South Africa’s Eastern Cape – is probably best known, however, for its starring roles in a number of television series, including the BBC’s Safari School.
The Travellers Choice group also visited Port Elizabeth, traversed the famous Garden Route, stayed in beautiful Plettenberg Bay and enjoyed colourful Cape Town.
The eight-day tour ended with a trek to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve in search of baboons, antelope and ostrich, and a day knocking on cellar doors in Paarl Valley and Stellenbosch, the second oldest town in South Africa and the heart of the country’s wine region.
