GUESTS at a special Austrian Tourism event on Fri night enjoyed a sublime Sydney Symphony Orchestra performance of Gustav Mahler’s Resurrection symphony.
The function was to celebrate the increased frequency of Emirates flights to Vienna, which now operate 13 times per week and have received huge support from the Aussie market.
In fact Australian arrivals into Vienna are up 15% this year, coinciding with the additional capacity operated by Emirates.
Astrid Mulholland-Licht from the Austrian National Tourist Office is predicting more than 130,000 overnights in Vienna from Australia this year, saying this was “an amazing result, and the highest ever”.
Before the Mahler, attendees were treated with delightful canapes – along with an authentic Austrian coffeehouse set up specially for the occasion at the Sydney Opera House.
