Moorabbin Airport is now home to the world’s largest and most advanced full motion general aviation flight simulator following its unveiling today at AVIA Aircraft’s new Training and Simulator Centre.
The Victorian Minister Responsible for the Aviation Industry, Gordon Rich-Phillips, officially opened the Centre and was first to test the new AVIA Simulator.
“AVIA’s multi-million dollar facility is the first of its kind in Australia, bringing airline quality, training and technology to the general aviation market,” said AVIA Aircraft Co-founder, Mr Charles Gunter.
“A year in the making and brought to life by over 20,000 man hours, our new simulator is the most advanced general aviation training simulator available worldwide.
“Offering the latest and safest in general aviation training and full motion movement, the new simulator delivers a welcome addition to the training capability available in Victoria.”
The AVIA Simulator offers life-like scenarios for all levels of pilot training across a range of aircraft types including Cirrus SR20/22, Cirrus Vision SF50, twin engine piston, Beechcraft King Air 200, Embraer Phenom 100 and Boeing 737NG.
Featuring 6 degrees of freedom, 200 degree visuals, Garmin G1000 avionics and a CAPS Parachute, the AVIA Simulator replicates the most dangerous emergency conditions thanks to its realism – rarely simulated correctly in general aviation.
“It’s a simple fact – simulators save lives and reduce the risk of accidents triggered by the training environment,” said Mr Gunter.
“Our training program for asymmetric and emergency procedures is being developed in accordance with the Civil Aviation Safety Authority’s highest safety standards and is critical to ensure pilot safety.”
The Minister Responsible for the Aviation Industry, Gordon Rich-Phillips, congratulated AVIA Aircraft on being at the forefront of the state’s pilot training programs.
