On Sunday 18th of March 2012 Otway Fly Treetop Adventures held the world’s first “Zip for Life”. Victoria’s only Zip Line Eco Tour participated in the Cancer Council’s fundraising Relay for Life.
The Cancer Council encourages people to participate in their Relay for Life fundraising activity to remember those lost to cancer, support cancer patients battling the disease, and to raise funds for cancer research.
“We had a very successful day on Sunday with many people zip lining to help raise funds” says Jude Allchurch GM Otway Fly Treetop Adventures “We couldn’t believe how many zip line tours we could fit into one day, it was one of our biggest days. This is the beginning of something big, we expect to grow this event each year and increase the amount of money we raise for the Cancer Council”.
Otway Fly ran back to back Zip Line tours at a cost of just $60 per person (normally $115), with 50% of every Zip Line sale being donated directly to the Cancer Council’s Relay for Life. Otway Fly raised just under $3,000 donation for the Cancer Council.
“Otway Fly likes to contribute to the community and this is one way we can participate in the fundraising efforts for important cancer research” says Allchurch.”People participated in the fund raising activity and enjoyed themselves at the same time”
The Zip Line is one of Victoria’s premier adventure activities and involves traversing from one platform to another (called cloud stations) whilst attached to a steel cable suspended up to 30 meters above the forest floor. The Zip Line includes 8 cloud stations, 6 exhilarating flights and 2 suspension bridges at height.
Bookings for the Zip Line are essential and can only be made over the phone 1800 333 477 |
