The Travel Corporation launches “strategic business partnership” with NRMA.
The Travel Corporation has just announced the acquisition of the wholesale division of NRMA travel, including Adventure World, Value Tours, Coral Seas and Creative Cruising as well as iCruise New Zealand.
Effective from 01 Nov Adventure World Travel and the subsidiary brands will be headed up by Fiona Hunt, currently md of Contiki Holidays, who will move internally within The Travel Corporation to take up the new role.
NRMA will “seize the opportunity to focus on its retail arm” as a result of the deal, while the strategic partnership will also see the motoring organisation develop a range of member-special travel packages.
“Today’s announcement will ensure we continue to be a significant and committed player in travel,” said NRMA group ceo Tony Stuart.
The Travel Corporation has affirmed its commitment to Adventure World, outlining a vision to invest in the brand to grow market share locally, and a longer-term intention to launch the brand internationally.
Hunt said the deal was “an incredibly exciting opportunity for us to take an established travel business to the next stage in its evolution.
“Not only will we be investing in this company on a local level, we will also be looking to grow the brand to become a global entity as an undisputed expert in the soft adventure arena,” she added.
The Adventure World offices in Sydney and Auckland will continue to operate as is, and all Adventure World Travel employees will be retained.
