Attendees at meeting unanimously endorse game-changing special resolution.
The Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) has a new constitution, after all members in attendance at this morning’s Annual General Meeting voted in favour of approving the document which was circulated late last month.
The new constitution has been developed following “a detailed review of what the sector needs from its peak body”, with AFTA CEO Dean Long describing the document as “a critical milestone in our 65-year history”.
A special resolution during the meeting required 75% approval, with those present all voting in favour of the new constitution which reflects the modern industry landscape to see voting power based on TTV rather than the former bricks-and-mortar based arrangements.
AFTA Chairman, Tom Manwaring from Express Travel Group, paid tribute to the work of the Association’s team and its achievements over the past 12 months, including workforce measures, wide-ranging industry advocacy and ongoing work to ensure the Australian Travel Accreditation Scheme maintains the industry’s commitment to Government a decade ago promising a robust and transparent compliance and oversight regime.
