Christopher Luxon to lead Air New Zealand.
Air New Zealand chairman John Palmer has just announced that Christopher Luxon will take over from the carrier’s current ceo Rob Fyfe at the end of Decmber.
Luxon is currently Air NZ Group General Manager International Airline, a role he has held since joining the carrier in May last year.
Luxon’s previous role was as President and CEO of the Canadian operations of consumer goods giant Unilever, with Palmer saying he brings a wealth of international business experience to the carrier and an “exceptionally strong commercial and customer focus.
“Christopher has world class strategic, commercial, leadership and stakeholder management capabilities proven across multiple markets. These have been highly evident to the Air New Zealand board in the year that he has been with the company and we have seen him effect positive commercial outcomes in our toughest operating division,” Palmer said.
The internal appointment follows an “exhaustive international search” for a new ceo for the carrier, with a well-planned transition period over the next six months to ensure a seamless handover.
