The announcement comes as the carrier enters voluntary administration, with flights to Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland paused until at least Saturday.
Brisbane Airport stated it was aware that Air Vanuatu would not operate flights on Thursday and Friday, and advised passengers scheduled to fly with the airline not to travel to the airport.
Vanuatu Tourism Office confirmed the airline has entered voluntary administration.
“We are conscious of the impact this situation has on travellers, ticket holders and the industry and on behalf of the Vanuatu tourism industry extend our apologies to anyone affected,” a spokesperson for the tourism body said.
A statement from Air Vanuatu is expected later today – more details in tomorrow’s issue of Travel Daily.
