Australia Post outlets to become “one-stop travel shops”
Australia Post has today launched a range of new services which are claimed to see it become the “one stop shop for travel related services,” with outlets to offer foreign exchange, passports, travel insurance, flights and bookings.
The move includes a new partnership with American Express to offer currency exchange outlets in 200 post offices across the country staffed by Amex foreign exchange specialists, complementing existing over-the-counter foreign currency services at more than 3200 stores nationwide.
Australia Post has also launched its own travel inurance product, which is currently available online and via a call centre, and will be available in stores in 2012.
And in another first, a new superstore debuting at the Brisbane GPO today features a dedicated Harvey World Travel outlet “where customers can access a full range of travel booking services from domestic and international flights, to worldwide accommodation, cruises, car, rail and coach touring”.
Australia Post ceo Ahmed Fahour said the new Brisbane store “is the first of hundreds of retail outlets to become a one-stop destination for travellers”.
