CX moving to 1% commission effective from 01 April 2022.
Cathay Pacific is the latest airline to upend its distribution strategy, this morning advising industry partners that it will reduce travel agency base commission from 5% to just 1% for journeys commencing in Australia and New Zealand.
The move mirrors similar cutting by Qantas and Emirates, but will become effective on 01 April this year, three months earlier than its competitors.
“The travel industry has been significantly impacted by the global pandemic, and Cathay Pacific, like many others, has had to make tough but necessary decisions to see ourselves through the pandemic,” the carrier said in a statement.
“These changes have included a thorough review of our distribution model and a fresh approach to Trade Partner engagement.”
