The partnership is set to launch in early 2026.
China Southern Airlines and Virgin Australia officially signed a new codeshare agreement this morning.
The partnership will significantly boost China Southern’s network in the Oceania region, offering passengers travelling between China and Australia “a more diverse, convenient, and efficient travel experience”.
“We are pleased to join hands with Virgin Australia to efficiently extend China Southern’s network to more destinations in Oceania,” said Zhang Dongsheng, Deputy Director General of the Commercial Steering Committee at China Southern.
“Going forward, China Southern and Virgin Australia will continue to explore new opportunities for international cooperation, unlocking more appealing destinations for our passengers.”
Meanwhile, Alistair Hartley, Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer at Virgin Australia, commented on the importance of the fast-growing Chinese tourism market for Australia.
“This partnership will open up more opportunities for visitors arriving on China Southern’s services to effectively connect across the Virgin Australia network,” he said.
“Whether travelling for business or leisure, this partnership will help more guests discover the diverse destinations and experiences our region has to offer.”
