Travel Corporation confirms closure of general wholesaler.
The Travel Corporation has just confirmed that Creative Holidays will cease operations effective 31 December following an “extensive business review”.
The shock move was announced by Travel Corporation Australia ceo John Veitch, who said “it goes without saying this has been a tough decision. The fiercely competitive environment in which we now operate has made for a difficult business proposition for a mass generalist FIT independent wholesaler such as Creative Holidays, hence we have reached this sad conclusion.”
It’s understood that about 100 staff are affected. The company extended “sincere gratitude to all of those in the industry who have supported Creative Holidays over the years and thank the team in particular for their unrelenting commitment”.
Veitch said the Travel Corporation continues to see imense growth opportunity in cruising and niche specialist FIT operations, with the aim of redeploying as many as possible of the Creative Holidays team into Creative Cruising and Adventure World as well as other areas of the business.
No other companies in the TTC portfolio are affected, and agents with existing bookings will be contacted by a member of the Creative Holidays team in order to discuss options.
