New $568m hotel development for WA.
James Packer’s Crown Limited has this afternoon announced the development of a new “six star luxury hotel” to be known as Crown Towers Perth.
The new 500-room property will expand the existing offerings at the Burswood Entertainment Complex, with the total investment in the project (including land) valued at $568 million.
Upon completion Crown Towers Perth will be the WA capital’s largest hotel, taking capacity at Burswood to nearly 1200 rooms. Construction will commence early next year, with an expected 2016 opening date.
As well as utilising existing Burswood property the project will include part of the existing golf course, with provision for the future development of serviced apartments.
As part of the deal the state government, which will receive a $60m payment for the land required, has agreed not to oppose an application for 500 additional gaming machines and 130 gaming tables.
