Economic study reveals full impact of cruise industry.
Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Australasia has just released its latest annual economic report, showing the cruise industry contributed close to $5 billion to the Australian economy last financial year.
The report shows that Australian ports received 1,236 ship visits in 2017-18 and welcomed 3.5 million passengers and crew, resulting in a spending spree that supported the equivalent of 17,000 full-time jobs.
“The cruise industry continues to make significant contributions to Australia’s economy and will continue to have a positive economic benefit if the industry is able to achieve sustainable growth in the coming years,” said CLIA Australasia Managing Director Joel Katz.
The report was commissioned by CLIA Australasia and the Australian Cruise Association (ACA).
