Certainty for travellers flying with Rex.
In welcome news for regional travellers, Aussies will be able to book flights on Rex during the administration process with certainty their booking will either go ahead as planned or they will receive a full refund.
The pledge is part of a new government Regional Flight Booking Guarantee announced this afternoon, which stipluates that in the event a Rex flight is cancelled and not rescheduled, and so long as no alternative service has been delivered and the Rex Companies are unable to provide a refund, the Federal Government will provide a guarantee over any chargebacks and refunds.
“This guarantee is about assuring customers and communities that they can, and should, continue booking regional flights with Rex, flights that allow them to stay connected with their family, their friends, their healthcare and other services, while also helping to maintain regional aviation in Australia,” Federal Transport Minister Catherine King said.
Rex administrators EY added the guarantee will be essential in helping Rex keep flying while it undertakes the recapitalisation to secure its future.
“We’re currently undertaking a process to find an investor committed to a sustainable commercial regional network,” EY said.
