Asian expansion continues for Flight Centre.
Flight Centre has just announced the acquisition of a 40% stake in a small Kuala-Lumpur based travel management company called Worldwide Aviation Services.
The business currently employs six people and generates about $250,000 in annual revenue. It will become part of the FCm Travel Solutions network and will be closely aligned with Flight Centre’s operations in Singapore.
Flight Centre says the investment gives it an “equity presence in a key corporate travel hub” as well as a platform for market entry into the SME corporate sector and greater control over the FCm customer offering in Malaysia.
As required under Malaysian law, Flight Centre will work with a local businessman, Datuk Hajui Hamzah Rahmat to operate the FCm Malaysia Business. Rahmat also happens to be the president of the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents.
