Inaugural ‘Turner Report’ collates records on millions of Australian travellers.
Flight Centre has just unveiled a new report which offers an in-depth look into the travel patterns of Australians. Based on the company’s extensive transaction database, the report breaks down Australia into postcode-based geographies to describe who is travelling, patterns and preferences on a region-by region basis.
The Turner Report, which will now be updated annually, feeds into a dedicated website online at trends.flightcentre.com.au where users can simply enter a postcode and receive traveller data based on a range of psychographic profiles.
CEO Graham Turner, who presented the inaugural report at a function in the Flight Centre boardroom today, said the figures showed Australians are on the move more than ever before, adding “we firmly believe this is the Golden Age of Travel”.
The report reveals the average Australian traveller – and Flight Centre customer – is a 47 year old male who travels for 15 days, plans his trips 56 days in advance and tends to visit a Flight Centre store to enquire in person. The biggest spenders are in the 50-54 yhear age group, while the “gap year” is certainly alive and well, with a whopping 40% annual growth in Flight Centre customers aged 15-19 in 2016.
The Turner report also shows fast growing destinations including Uluru, the Sunshine Coast and Cairns domestically, as well as New Caledonia, Japan and Vanuatu for international leisure customers.
The report can be downloaded now at trends.flightcentre.com.au.
