Government to enforce mandatory quarantine for arriving passengers.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison has just announced further measures to contain the spread of coronavirus, including the forced quarantine of all incoming travellers in hotels and other facilities for 14 days.
The new arrangements will be enforced by State and Territory governments, but with the assistance of the Australian Defence Force.
The two-week mandatory isolation period becomes effective from 11.59pm tomorrow, 28th March 2020, and applies to the point of arrival.
Therefore, for example if someone lives in Tasmania, but returns to Australia through Melbourne, that person will have to stay in Melbourne for two weeks.
