Adventure World founder expands portfolio.
Travel industry veteran Peter Newsom, who established Adventure World before selling it some years ago, has been announced as the new managing director of Italian specialist wholesaler CIT Holidays, which is transferring its business to a new company called CIT Europe Pty Ltd.
The move is effective 01 February, and will see CIT’s former owners Federico and William Kernot join Newsom as directors of the new company.
“Apart from the change in management, all other procedures will remain the same and the legal and operational address will continue to be at 263 Clarence Street Sydney,” Newsom said.
“CIT Holidays is synonymous with travel and tourism to Italy, as well as other parts of Europe, and has been operating successfully in Australia since 1971,” he added.
In 2007 Newsom sold Adventure World to NRMA, which in turn divested it last year to The Travel Corporation. After keeping a low profile for some time he also emerged in 2013 as the co-owner of Perth-based tour operator Travel Directors.
