India expansion includes Sydney-Bengaluru (Bangalore) services and IndiGo codeshare agreement.
Qantas CEO Alan Joyce has this morning announced a new direct route between Sydney and Bengaluru in southern India, along with a planned codeshare agreement with IndiGo, India’s largest domestic airline.
Both Qantas and Jetstar will also operate new non-stop routes between Sydney and Seoul’s Incheon International Airport, the first Qantas scheduled services between Australia and Korea since early 2008.
The Bengaluru services, to operate four times a week from 14 September this year, will complement QF’s existing five weekly Melbourne-Delhi flights, with the proposed IndiGo pact giving customers one-stop access to more than 50 Indian cities.
The Qantas and Jetstar Seoul flights are recognition of the increasing popularity of South Korea as a “must-see destination for Australians,” Joyce said, with Jetstar planning 787-8 flights three times a week from 02 November 2022, while Qantas will utilise A330s to Seoul effective from 10 December.
