Agents to gain access to more fares and dynamic commission offers when new model launches to the market.
From 01 July next year, Qantas will launch a new distribution model that the carrier says will better serve travel agents and consumers.
When it goes live in 2025, agents will have access to Qantas content with surcharge free options, as well as varying ticket surcharges, including:
• Traditional indirect booking systems (EDIFACT)
• Standard NDC
• Premium NDC (by invitation)
Speaking in a briefing early this morning, Qantas CEO – Qantas International and Freight Cam Wallace said over the past five or six years, the carrier had been investing in new distribution capability with the objective to transform the booking experience and to modernise retailing.
“What we’re trying to do through NDC is get our customers to have access to better pricing, fairer options, but most importantly, more personalised experience compared to the traditional indirect channels,” Wallace said.
“We see quite a significant opportunity for agents to earn dynamic commission, streamline of manual processes, and just making the process easier and better.”
