Qantas adds six new codeshare destinations with LAN.
Qantas has just announced a significantly expanded reciprocal codeshare relationship with its oneworld partner LAN Airlines.
Under the new arrangement Qantas customers will be able to travel on codeshare flights operated by LAN from Santiago, Chile to six new South American destinations including Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo in Brazil, Lima in Peru and La Serena, Antofagasta and Punta Arenas in Chile.
The deal will also see LAN codeshare on Qantas trans-Tasman and domestic flights throughout Australia.
“This is great news for Qantas customers, with greater access to popular destinations in South America than ever before,” said Qantas Executive Manager International Sales, Stephen Thompson.
He said the initiative delivered on QF’s international gateway strategy by increasing its presence in growth markets via strategic partnerships.
“Santiago is a key gateway for our customers and this development will strengthen its prominence as a hub for onward connections,” he added, with passengers having more opportunities to earn frequent flyer points as well as seamless luggage transfers.
