Carrier reports record revenue, passenger numbers and loads thanks to new travel agency relationships.
Regional Express has just upgraded its profit forecasts after seeing an “astonishing” result from its operations during July.
Base passenger revenue was $13.7 million on its mainstream capital city jet routes – almost double that of the monthly average of the prior quarter – with a load factor of 86%, while passenger numbers and revenue on the Rex regional network were almost identical to the figures from July 2019.
Executive Chairman Lim Kim Hai said “our phenomenal performance can be attributed in large part to the tie-ups we signed in the prior few months with travel agency groups and corporate accounts”.
“I have every expectation that our numbers will continue to grow sharply over the next few months,” he added, with the strong result expected to see the introduction of further aircraft to the domestic fleet. A seventh 737-800NG aircraft will enter service later this month “and we are in advanced discussions to lease another two for later this year,” Lim added.
