A further escalation in the conflict between Israel and Iran has seen Qantas pause its nonstop Perth to London flights.
The 17-hour service to London’s Heathrow airport is currently only possible by flying through Iranian airspace.
For the foreseeable future, Qantas’ Perth to London flights will operate via a stop in Singapore instead.
“We’ll reach out to customers directly if there’s any change to their booking,” a Qantas spokesperson said.
The decision was made after military intelligence suggested a reprisal attack on Israeli targets by Iran is likely after the assassination of Iran’s top soldier, Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi.
At this stage it is unclear if the changes to the Perth schedule will impact the highly publicised Perth to Paris route launching on 12th July.
A statement by Qantas has been sought for further details.
