Tigerair Australia ends Bali service permanently
Tigerair Australia has just announced it will suspend services between Australia and Bali permanently.
Effective immediately, the decision to cancel services was made as Indonesian Authorities refused to grant the no-frills carrier with final approval to operate to and from the popular tourist hot spot.
Whilst Indonesian Authorities offered an alternative regulatory solution, Tigerair Australia said the fix would take at least six months to implement and would compromise the airline’s ability to offer budget airfares to travellers.
“Providing a reliable, low-cost service is critical for Tigerair Australia and our customers, and therefore our only option is to withdraw from flying to Bali altogether,” said the airline’s chief executive officer Rob Sharp.
“We will continue to work with Virgin Australia to support any passengers still in Bali and needing to travel home to Australia.”
Customers who have already booked travel to and from Bali with Tigerair Australia will be offered a full refund, Sharp confirmed.
“Again, we sincerely apologise to our customers who have been caught up in this and we will continue to work around the clock to support them as best we can.”
