Top rating US breakfast show to beam into 5.6 million American homes from Australia.
The NSW government in partnership with Qantas will host one of America’s top rating morning shows for a live broadcast from Sydney on Monday 4th May 2015.
NSW Premier Mike Baird hailed Destination NSW’s success in securing NBC’s TODAY show for the broadcast, saying it was a “golden opportunity to showcase NSW to the lucrative US audience.
“We’ll work with TODAY’s producers to promote the state as a must-see tourism destination,” Baird said.
Qantas will offer travel packages as part of the partnership with Destination NSW, with QF ceo Alan Joyce saying the carrier is a “big supporter of Australian tourism”.
NSW minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events, Stuart Ayres, said a similar partnership with Ellen De Generes in 2013 resulted in a 22% increase in inbound ticket sales from the USA to Sydney.
“We are looking to maximise the potential of this opportunity,” he said.
