IASC confirms contested application for Italy.
The International Air Services Commission has just announced that Virgin Australia is seeking an allocation of 300 seats per week on the Italy route.
The Virgin move is a response to Qantas, which recently applied for a renewal of a number of existing determinations which were set to expire this year.
The IASC said that all of the available capacity on the Italy route has been allocated to Qantas “so this creates a contested case,” meaning the airlines will have to provide a response in support of their applications.
Virgin’s application states that it wants the Italy capacity to support the introduction of code share services on Singapore Airlines and Etihad Airways flights to Italy.
