The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) has launched a push encouraging international travellers to ensure they are adequately insured, as well as registering their travel plans with the department.
Australians make more than 8.5-million international trips annually, with 1400 cases reported daily of Aussies getting into difficulty and requiring consular assistance or an emergency medical evacuation.
